After a few days of intensive partying and walking from showcase to showcase, we set up a spontaneous garden showcase in courtesy of Stadiums & Shrines, featuring bonfire, marshmallows and live music by Matthew Sage, Eola, Steffaloo, Little Spoon, Mutual Benefit and even a spontaneous acoustic set by Austin locals Sorne, who happened to live right next door to us. It was without doubt one of my favourite nights of SXSW, so for those of you who couldn't make it, we recorded a little part of Mutual Benefit (aka Jordan Lee)'s set, and hopefully he won't kill us for posting it here. Mutual Benefit live at SXSW 2012
Spring is here. It's almost time for Easter candy and all that good shit, and this popped-out, tropical dance track from Tropic of Pisces (a.k.a. Mathew Schelner of Mon Khmer & Oberhofer) titled "Symmetry" certainly possesses plenty of the pollen-coated zest typical of the season. It's a super enjoyable warm-weather track, and I imagine this tune will float effortlessly into the mid-summer months with all its beach trips, pool parties and late-afternoon BBQs. Junior Electronics is the solo project of Brighton native Joe Watson, otherwise known as being responsible for engineering the last three Stereolab albums and also for performing as the supergroup's keyboarder. In any case, this is some truly beautiful, no-bullshit synth pop here, gentle and highly sophisticated arrangements that appear almost too polished for these realms, but on the other hand trenchantly remind us how these things are done properly, and there has never been anything wrong with that.

Keyboardist Chase Hudson and drummer Sean Sullivan originally formed 2PPM in Northwest Florida with the intent "to explore the sonic boundaries between popular styles and the musical unknown [while presenting] the conscious or unconscious headspace that we all share." The duo is currently writing new material for their third effort, Desert Country and Physics, which will be released in June.

All though 120 Days had to cancel their SXSW dates, there were still a few local Norwegians that made it to Austin this year, amongst them also our favourite Oslo trio Philco Fiction. Prior to SXSW they released the video below for the gorgeous "Finally" (as well as a mini-EP containing handful of tracks from Take It Personal and their 2010 EP, Give Us To The Lions) and now recently the London duo Visions Of Trees gave the same track some of their minimalistic club love. While we still have to wait a bit for Laurel Halo's honestly breathtaking debut full-length Quarantine on Hyperdub, out in May, the new Mute subdivision Liberation Technologies is about to drop the Spring EP under her King Felix moniker next week, as already widely reported. Yesterday, Fact posted the second track of the 12 inch, "Spring02 ". So while you most likely have heard that one already, get ready for the amazing first cut below, aptly entitled "Spring01 " and arguably closer to Halo's material on last year's favorite Hour Logic, the change of guise notwithstanding. Needless to say, highly recommended.

Before, after, and in between, we as well as the Nordic By Nature folks are gonna put on some records for your pleasure.
The whole thing takes place at Marie Antoinette and starts at midnight, for further info go here. We give away two +1 guest list spots for the night if you can name your favorite Norwegian cheese in a mail to competitions@nofearofpop.net until Thursday, 3 pm.
